Investment Management in Keyport

We build and look after a portfolio that matches your goals, your timeline and how much risk you can actually live with. You get a written plan, steady oversight and reports that show what you own, what it costs and why it is there.

What investment management means here

Investment management is the hands-on part of your financial life: choosing what to hold, deciding how much of each, and adjusting as markets move and your life changes. We take that work on so your accounts follow a plan instead of drifting.

Many clients come to us with a scattered set of accounts. There may be an old 401(k) from a former employer, a brokerage account opened years ago and an IRA nobody has looked at since. Our first job is to put it all on one page so you can see the whole picture clearly.

We do not promise returns, and we will not tell you a market call is certain. What we can promise is a clear method, honest records and a straight answer when you ask how things are going.

What the work includes

A written investment policy

Before we buy or sell anything, we write down your goals, time horizon, risk tolerance and any limits you want, such as holdings you prefer to avoid. That document guides every decision afterward.

Asset allocation

We set the mix of stocks, bonds and cash that fits your plan. The mix matters more to long-term results than any single holding, so we spend real time on it.

Rebalancing

Markets pull a portfolio away from its targets. We review on a schedule and bring it back in line, with attention to the tax cost of each trade.

Tax-aware placement

Some investments belong in taxable accounts and others in IRAs or Roth accounts. Where it fits, this work connects with our tax management service.

Clear documentation

You get statements and our own summaries showing holdings, costs and changes. If you ever need a record of what you owned and when, it is already organized.

Signs it may be time for help

  • Accounts you have stopped checking

Old employer plans and forgotten IRAs often sit in default funds that no longer fit. Money nobody watches can carry more risk than you realize.

  • You cannot say what you own

When statements are hard to read, judging risk or cost is close to impossible. A clear list of your holdings is where we begin.

  • Your life is about to shift

Receiving an inheritance, selling your company, changing jobs or nearing retirement all change the job your portfolio has to do. Moments like these call for a deliberate plan rather than leftover choices.

  • Market swings keep you up at night

Feeling uneasy in a downturn usually means the allocation was never set for you. We would rather address that before the next drop than in the middle of it.

From first conversation to ongoing oversight

  1. 1

    A first conversation

Meet us at the office, or talk by phone or video if that suits you better. Tell us which accounts you have and what you want them to accomplish. In return, we explain how we manage money and what our fee is, in plain language.

  2. 2

    Statements, then a map

Next, you share a recent statement for every account. We chart each holding, what it costs and where funds duplicate one another. That review reaches you in writing before we recommend any change.

  3. 3

    Your approval before any trade

We present a suggested allocation and the reasoning behind each part of it. Nothing is bought, sold or transferred until you say yes, and assets come over in measured steps.

  4. 4

    Oversight that continues

From there we monitor the portfolio, rebalance when it drifts from its targets and review it with you on a regular schedule. When your circumstances change, the plan changes with them.

What shapes the cost

Investment management fees depend on the size and complexity of what we look after. We explain our fee in plain terms at the introductory meeting and put it in writing before you commit. You will always be able to see what you are paying.

Assets under management
The total value of the accounts we manage is usually the main driver.
Number and type of accounts
Several accounts across joint, retirement, trust or business ownership take more coordination than a single IRA.
Tax complexity
Large unrealized gains, concentrated stock positions or careful withdrawal sequencing add planning work.
Fund expenses
The underlying funds carry their own costs. We show those separately so you see the full picture, not just our share.

Questions about investment management

Something not covered here? (732) 655-8654

Can I start with just one account and keep the rest where they are?

Yes. Plenty of clients begin by handing us a single IRA or brokerage account and bring others over later, if ever. We can still look at the accounts we do not manage so the overall mix of your money stays sensible.

Can you guarantee my portfolio will grow?

No honest advisor can. Markets go up and down, and every investment carries some risk. We offer a disciplined method, broad diversification and plain reporting, so you always know where things stand.

How often will we sit down together?

Most clients have a full review with us at least once a year, plus shorter conversations whenever they are useful. If something shifts, like a new job or a change in the family, pick up the phone and we will talk it through.

Will selling what I own now trigger taxes?

It may. Before suggesting any sale, we check your cost basis and how much gain is built in. In some cases we move gradually over more than one tax year, or simply keep certain positions to hold the tax bill down.

Do I need to live near Keyport to work with you?

Not at all. Clients in Hazlet, Matawan, Holmdel and farther away work with us by phone and video, and you are welcome at our office whenever you would rather meet in person.

Start with a clear look at what you own

Bring your statements to an introductory meeting and we will walk through them with you. You will leave knowing what you hold and what we would suggest.
