Wealth Management in Keyport

We bring your portfolio, tax picture, insurance coverage and legacy wishes into one plan that we look after with you over the years. You get one advisor who sees how each decision affects the others, and clear explanations at every step.

What wealth management means here

Most people build wealth in pieces. A 401(k) from one employer, an IRA from another, a brokerage account opened years ago, a life policy bought when the kids were small. Each piece made sense at the time. Together, they rarely work as a whole.

Wealth management is the ongoing work of making them work as a whole. We look at what you own, what you owe, what you want and what could go wrong, then manage it as one long-term plan rather than a drawer of statements.

It suits clients whose finances have grown past simple: business owners, couples nearing retirement, families thinking about the next generation, and anyone who has inherited money or sold property and wants a steady hand on what comes next.

What the work includes

A full inventory of your accounts
We gather every account, policy and obligation into one view. Seeing it all in one place often reveals overlap, idle cash or risk you did not know you were carrying.
Portfolio management
We build and manage investments around your goals and how much movement you can live with. Rebalancing happens on a schedule, not on a whim. Our Investment Management page covers this in more depth.
Tax coordination
We consider where each holding sits, which accounts to draw from first, and how gains and losses land in a given year. We work alongside your tax preparer, not in place of them.
Insurance review and claim readiness
We review the coverage you have against what you now own. We also help you keep records and documentation of significant assets organized, and explain in plain terms how a claim generally works, so a loss does not start with a search for paperwork. We do not act as an adjuster or promise any claim outcome.
Retirement and legacy planning
Income timing, Social Security decisions, beneficiary designations and how you want assets to pass on all sit inside the same plan. Retirement Planning and Legacy Planning each have their own page if you want the detail.

When wealth management makes sense

  • Your money lives at several firms

A retirement plan from a past job, a couple of IRAs and some brokerage accounts, with nobody looking at them side by side.

  • Sudden money arrived

An inheritance, the sale of a business or property, or a lump-sum pension offer. Choices made in that first year tend to set the course for decades.

  • A loss showed how thin your records were

If a storm, a theft or another loss left you unsure what you had, what it was worth or what your coverage included, your finances deserve stronger organization.

  • Tax bills catch you off guard

Unexpected charges from fund payouts, required withdrawals or capital gains you never planned around.

  • Only you know where everything is

Ask yourself whether your spouse or children could find every account and understand your wishes if you were suddenly unable to explain them. If not, that gap is worth closing.

How our fees are set

There is no standard package here. Our fee reflects how much we look after and how involved that work is. In the introductory meeting we lay out how pricing would apply to you, and we put it in writing before you sign anything, so the cost and the scope are both clear from the start.

Portfolio size

How much we manage on your behalf usually carries the most weight in the fee.

Moving parts beyond investments

Owning a business, holding rental property, receiving stock compensation or having trusts in place all add planning hours that a plain portfolio does not need.

How many people and accounts are involved

A single IRA takes less coordination than accounts spread across spouses, grown children or a family business.

Your review schedule

Some clients like to sit down every quarter. Others prefer one or two check-ins a year, and that difference shows up in the work.

From first conversation to ongoing care

  1. 1

    A first conversation

We start by talking through where things stand today and what you want your money to do for you, either in person at our office or over phone or video. You leave knowing whether this service fits your situation and how we would approach it.

  2. 2

    Gathering your paperwork

You send over statements, policies, tax returns and estate documents. We read each one closely and note what is serving you well, where accounts overlap and what is missing altogether.

  3. 3

A written plan you can weigh

Our recommendations arrive in plain language, each with the reasoning behind it and the tradeoff it involves. Nothing changes until you approve it.

  4. 4

    Putting the plan in motion

We handle account transfers, portfolio adjustments and the forms that come with them. If your tax preparer or attorney needs to weigh in, we coordinate with them directly.

  5. 5

    Regular reviews

We meet on a set schedule and whenever life shifts. A marriage, a new grandchild, a move or a loss is each a good reason to revisit the plan together.

Wealth management questions

How is wealth management different from financial planning?

A financial plan is usually a snapshot, built for where you stand today. Wealth management carries that plan forward year after year, adjusting it and managing the investments along the way. Plenty of clients begin with Financial Planning and shift into wealth management once their affairs become more involved.

Is there a minimum amount needed to begin?

We have not set a published minimum. During the introductory meeting we will give you a straight answer on whether ongoing wealth management suits you right now, or whether a more focused service would be the better starting point.

What can you do for me after an insurance loss?

We can help you assemble records of what you owned, read through what your policy actually says and explain the usual stages of a claim. We are not adjusters, and we cannot tell you what an insurer will pay. What we offer is organization and plain explanation, so your talks with the insurer go more clearly.

Can we meet by phone or video instead of at the office?

Yes. Some clients like sitting down at our office, while others would rather talk by phone or video. Clients from Keyport, Matawan, Hazlet and Holmdel often switch between the two depending on what we are covering.

What should I bring to the first meeting?

Your recent account statements, last year's tax return and any insurance policies or estate papers you have on hand. Missing a few documents is fine, so please come regardless. Tracking down what is missing is part of what we do.

Talk it through with us first

Our introductory meeting lets you see how we would care for your wealth and judge for yourself whether the fit is right. Take whatever time you need afterward to decide.
